According to the Regulation No. 6458, foreigners who will stay in Turkey for more than 90 days or longer than the period granted by the visa or visa exemption are required to obtain a residence permit. Within the framework of this regulation, when foreigners apply for residence permit, they are obliged to submit documents regarding the address where they will stay such as rent contracts.
However, due to the lack of an effective detection mechanism to determine the authenticity of the rent contracts, it has been noticed that some applicants submit rent contracts which is issued for fake addresses or real addresses but without the knowledge of the landlords. Therefore, as of 07.02.2022, it is mandatory to have the rent contract issued by a Turkish Notary while submitting a rent contract for residence permit application. Purpose of this regulation is to determine the authenticity of the rent contracts.
As a result, it has become very important to pay attention to the above-mentioned procedures if you will submit a rent contract while applying for residence permit.
