Turkish citizenship can be acquired by birth or after. The conditions under which a person can acquire Turkish citizenship by birth are regulated in the Turkish citizenship law. The acquisition of Turkish citizenship by birth is based on two principles: decent and place of birth.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICATION
1- Application Form (VAT-1),
2- 2 biometric photographs, 50×60 mm in size, on a white background,
3- Turkish and notarized translation of the document containing the identity information of the foreign mother or father, and the notarized Turkish translation of the officially approved document showing whether the applicant has acquired foreign state citizenship due to his foreign mother and father.
4- Notarized Turkish translation of the birth certificate,
5- Birth certificate to be issued based on the birth certificate (VGF-10-01).
Acquisition of Turkish citizenship on the basis of place of birth:
Acquiring Turkish citizenship on the basis of place of birth regulated in Turkish Citizenship Law Article 8 is regulated as follows:
A child born in Turkey, but acquiring no citizenship of any state by birth through his/her alien mother or father is a Turkish citizen from the moment of birth.
According to this article, children born in Turkey, who cannot be citizens of any country due to their foreign parents, acquire Turkish citizenship by birth, taking into account the place of birth.
