Which Procedures Are Carried Out After Citizenship?
01 — Creation and Review of the Population Record
The name, surname, birth details, marital status, and spouse and child records in the Turkish population record created following the citizenship decision are checked.
02 — Turkish Identity Card and Passport
Following the creation of the population record, Turkish identity card and passport procedures are carried out.
03 — Family Records of the Spouse and Children
The records of the spouse and children in the family register are checked; missing birth, marriage or other marital status records are completed.
04 — Name, Surname and Registry Errors
If the information in the citizenship application form has been transferred incorrectly to the population record by the official, a correction request is submitted to the population directorate by petition. Apart from this, if a name or surname needs to be changed or a substantial change needs to be made to the population record, a lawsuit is filed.
05 — Name Equivalence Certificate
Procedures are carried out for a name equivalence certificate showing that the foreign name and surname before citizenship and the identity details after Turkish citizenship belong to the same person.
06 — Registration of Births and Marriages Abroad
The documents required for the registration of births and marriages that took place abroad but have not been entered in the Turkish population records are prepared, and the procedure is followed up.
07 — Entering Foreign Divorce Decisions into the Population Records
The administrative registration or recognition process that may be applied to enter a divorce decision issued abroad into the Turkish population records is assessed.
